 Undergraduate Program

Purdue University offers tremendous opportunities for training in Plant Breeding and Genetics (PPGB).  As one of the few universities in the United States offering this undergraduate focus, Purdue’s Plant Genetics and Plant Breeding Option is designed for students interested in agricultural biotechnologyand the genetic mechanisms that control crop growth and development. This option prepares students for both industry opportunities and graduate or professional studies. Students will learn fundamental genetics and practical plant breeding, examine the latest science in sustainable crop production and genetic engineering, evaluate strategies for adapting plant lines to environmental stress, and understand variety improvement for developing countries. Opportunities exist for training in laboratory and field practices important to modern genetics research.
