Research at the 220-acre SWPAC focuses on increasing horticultural and agronomic crop yields and quality while decreasing input expenditures, including for pesticides. It possesses sandier soils and climatic conditions suitable for melon and other horticultural and specialty crop production.
Research includes: weed and disease control in melons, growth and management of wine grapes, new specialty crop varieties, and organic vegetable production.
Extension specialists located at SWPAC provide important research and outreach to growers and others in southwestern Indiana. SWPAC is also home of the Knox county office of Purdue Extension and the Purdue Extension Southwest District Office.
