Economic and Community Development

ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Clinton County is a rural community with a population of 33,224, and an available workforce of 16,672. A concentration of 16,000 residents live in the city of Frankfort, and a robust industrial park borders the city contains Production, transportation, and material moving occupations, 37%. Sales and office occupations, 19%. and Management, professional, and related occupations, 12%. Approximately 81 percent of workers in Frankfort, Indiana work for companies, 7 percent work for the government and 4 percent are self-employed. Our county combines the best of both worlds--a small town look and feel with employment opportunities.

At the Clinton County Extension Office, we develop leadership skills and provide educational information on economic development, government funding, and community improvement programs. In addition, the Clinton County Extension office offers a robust workforce development program, partnering with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (through its Work One Center) to offer resume-writing and computer basics classess, diploma credit-recovery and GED Online preparation programs, test proctoring and tutoring, English as a Second Language and citizenship classes. These are just a few ways Purdue Extension networks with the community to address local issues and raise the level of education for all Clinton County residents.
