Volunteers are the backbone of the 4-H program. Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas in the 4-H program.
We take the job of working with our youth very serious. Those interested in being a part of the 4-H program must complete an application and supply references which are contacted. Volunteers are also subject to a background check. Volunteers must sign a "Behavioral Expectations" document. All volunteers (elected and appointed) must enroll annually with the program beginning in 2010.
If you are interested in being a 4-H Volunteer - contact the Extension Office at 765-348-3213.
4-H Volunteer Information
The 4-H Council is elected by the parents and others interested in the 4-H program. The election takes place during the 4-H Awards program at the 4-H Fair. Members serve a three year term and can be elected again for an additional three years.
The 4-H Fairboard is responsible for the maintaining and upkeep to the 4-H Building and Grounds. They are also responsible for the 4-H Fair. Members are elected at the Annual Meeting of the Blackford County 4-H & Open Fair Association.
4-H Club Leaders
4-H Club Leaders and Club Helpers meet with the youth enrolled in the 4-H program. Volunteers in this area help youth learn about their specific 4-H projects. Adults share their knowledge on a variety of subjects.
4-H Project Superintendents
Project superintendents are involved in a variety of ways. It too is an opportunity for an adult to share his or her knowledge of a subject with youth. Superintendents are involved with the 4-H Fair in the project judging and livestock show.
