A few fast facts about the over-age-65 crowd in the country, state, and county:

   In 2008, the most recent figures, 38.9 million Americans were over age 65.
   
1 out of every 8 Americans -- 12.8% of the population -- is over age 65.
   ● 
In Indiana in 2008, there were 815,000 Hoosiers over age 65 (approximately 13%).
   Delaware County had a total of 16,811 residents over age 65, or approximately 15% of the
         
population.
   The average life expectancy for men in the U.S. is 82.1 years, and for women is 84.8 years.
