Online Animal Enrollment for Horse and Pony and Pygmy Goats:  All 4-Hers who have signed up for Horse and Pony or who are showing pygmy goats, need to complete the online animal enrollment by May 15th.  Horse and Pony members will receive their ID numbers and passwords at the meeting on March 12th.  ID numbers and passwords will be emailed to those who are showing pygmy goats.

PQA Plus Training will be held for beginners (ages 8-11 as of January 1, 2013) on Thursday, May 16th from 6-8 p.m. at the 4-H Fairgrounds.  The training program for intermediate and advanced (ages 12 and up as of January 1, 2013) will be held on Monday, June 10th from 6-8 p.m. at the 4-H Fairgrounds. 

Goat identification and pre-fair registration will be held at the 4-H Fairgrounds on May 11th from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  This will be the only opportunity to I.D. and weigh any market goats.  All exhibitors bringing market wethers to the registration will need to bring $2.50 per wether for tag and retinal I.D. expenses.

Rabbit workshop, rabbit identification, pre-fair registration, and tattooing will be held at the 4-H Fairgounds on May 11th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  You must bring all of your 4-H rabbits even those that have already been tattooed.

Sheep identifiation and pre-fair registration will be held at the 4-H Fairgrounds on May 11th from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  This will be the only opportunity to I.D. and weigh any market sheep.  All exhibitors will need to pay $2.50 for each lamb tagged and / or retinal scanned at that time.

Poultry blood-testing will be held on June 6th at the 4-H Fairgrounds from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Please contact Poultry Superintendent, Dan Crosby, at 585-2670 if you need to make special arrangements.

2013 Beef ID Day will be held on Saturday, February 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon at the Veedersburg Livestock Commission.  All steer and commercial heifers will need to be tagged with county and RFID tags.  Steers and commercial heifers will also need to be weighed on this day.  New for 2013:  all registered heifers must be tagged with an RFID tag.  Registered heifers may be RFID tagged at the Beef ID Day.

  • Junior Leaders
  • Fountain County 4-H Junior Leaders offers the opportunity to develop leadership abilities to plan, organize, and reason.  While working with others they make new friends and become leaders in their community.  Junior Leaders can become eligible for 4-H trips, awards, and scholarships. 

  • The first 4-H Junior Leader Meeting will be held, Wednesday, January 30th, at the d'Arlier Cultural Center in Veedersburg, starting at 6:00 p.m.  All other meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of the month, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Meeting places will be published in the Clover Chatter and / or on the Purdue Extension Fountain County Facebook page.
