The Owen Co. ANR Connection is a bi-monthly newsletter that provides area residents a wide variety of information.  Columns include:

 2014

February - This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection has information about meat carcasses, gardening classes, cattle tags, and land prices. There is also information about upcoming events related to Purdue Extension.

 

2013

February - This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection has information about trimming hooves, the new fertilizer rule, how to enroll in 4-H, and property taxes. There is also information about upcoming ANR programs, agricultural history, and crop production.

April - Learn about pasture management, plant hardiness zones, and planting trees in this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection. There is also information about extracting stuck equipment safely and common weeds area residents are dealing with.

June - This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection has information about controlling flies, weed control, fruits and vegetables, along with upcoming events around Owen County.

August - Recent forecasts in grain production and thoughts about increases in heifer retention can be found in this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection.  You can also find information out about colic in horses, landscaping year-round, and what upcoming events are happening in and around Owen County.

October - Learn about weed control, caring for livestock, and farm safety in this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection.  There is also information about upcoming Purdue Extension events around the area.  

December - This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection has information about structural correctness in livestock, common winter plants, and a hearty recipe you can try with your family.  You can also find out about several of the upcoming programs around the area including Annie's Project, QuickBooks Training, and a program about Palmer Amaranth.

 

 

2012

February - This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection  has information about structural correctness in livestock, Goss's Wilt, trimming trees, and earthquake preparedness.  There is also information about upcoming ANR programs, commodity prices in 1962, and wheat.

April - Learn about deworming livestock, the 2011 Soybean Survey Results, birds, and how to utilize technology on your farm in this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection.  There is also information about the crazy March weather we had and various upcoming ANR programs.

June - In this issue of the Owen Co. ANR Connection, you will find information about hay production, drought conditions on all edible plants, and agricultural history.  There is also information about the topic that has been impacting local residents like crazy, Tuliptree Scale.

August -  This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection has information about blossom-end rot, the drought, and agricultural history. There is also information about upcoming ANR programs and the opportunity to get your corn tested for nitrates.

October - In this edition of the Owen Co. ANR Connection, you will find information about livestock production, using technology while growing crops, and agricultural history.  If you grow crops, please check out the bottom of page 3 and find out how you can help our local
4-H program.  On pages 4 and 9, you will find information about upcoming ANR programs locally and around the state.

December - In this issue of the Owen Co. ANR Connection, you will find information about crop varieties, making economical choices when selecting feeds, and agricultural history.  Throughout this newsletter, you will find information on numerous upcoming ANR programs that will be held locally and around the state include Annie's Project, Master Gardeners, and Successsion Planning.     

 

 

2011

February - In this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection you will find out some information about driving farm equipment on the roads and about raising twin calves.  You will also gain some knowledge about planting trees and one of the common invasive plants around Owen Co.  There is also information about some of the upcoming programs around Indiana that are related to agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources. 

April - Learn about the pinkeye in goats, caring for your lawn, and farm/home safety in this month's edition of the Owen Co. ANR Connection.  Additionally, there is information about upcoming gardening programs in and around Owen Co. along with information on unique insects.

June -   In this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection, you will find information about plant propagation, treating weeds in fields, and beneficial insects.

August - In this month's Owen Co. ANR Connection you will find out some information about arthritis and agriculture, strawberry production, and squirrel damage.  You will learn about some of the interesting Indiana weather related facts.   There is also information about some of the upcoming programs around Indiana that are related to agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources. 

October - Learn about fall insects, caring for poinsettias, and land values in this month's edition of the Owen Co. ANR Connection.  You will learn about forages.   There is also information about some of the upcoming programs around Indiana that are related to agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources.

December - This month's Owen Co. ANR Connection is full of information about upcoming events.  There is information on Xeriscaping, woodpeckers, and cattle.  A few of the programs discussed include the Two Night Beef Program occuring in February, the four night Master Grain Marketing Clinc, and the upcoming Purdue Master Gardener Course.
