Beef Cattle Information:

Management Considerations on Winterizing the Herd and Preparing for Next Grazing Season (Archived Video)- This is a program that was presented on-line in December 2010 by Dr. Ron Lemenager and Dr. Keith Johnson.

The Purdue Beef Center- A website with educational information for Indiana Beef Producers in the form of videos, podcasts, and a list of all the Purdue Beef Publications.  

CPH-45 Preconditioned Feeder Calf Sale Information- These are feeder calf sales that are organized in Kentucky but open to southern Indiana beef producers. These sales are held several times a year at Kentuckiana Stockyards in Owensboro. For additional information please contact Margie at the Extension Office.

Indiana Beef Cattle Association- This producer run organization has information available for both the producers of beef products and the consumers of beef products.

Indiana Beef Evaluation Program Bull Test- This is a program that takes place at the Feldun Purdue Ag Center. There are two test periods (winter and summer) with a bull sale that takes place at the end of the test period.

Small Ruminant (Sheep and Goat) Information:

Purdue Small Ruminant Page- A website with information on all aspects of meat goat and sheep production.

2010 Fall Meat Goat Program (Archived Videos)- The archived videos from the three session program held in the fall of 2010. The website includes the videos and handouts.

Swine Information

PQA Plus Program- This is a quality assurance program for swine producers. There are two parts to this which include certification in the program of the farmer and the site assessment.

IDEM CFO Information- The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is the governing agency that oversees the Confined Feeding Operation rules in Indiana.

Poultry

Indiana Egg Board- This board oversees the selling of eggs throughout the state.

General Information

Indiana Plants Poisonous to Livestock and Pets- This is a list of plants that are of risk to livestock.

Indiana Board of Animal Health- This is the government agency that assists in protecting the spread of disease from one animal to another. They also provide in-state meat inspection.

Purdue Animal Manure Solutions – Purdue website featuring Extension publications, regulations, and national curriculum about the management of animal manure on livestock and poultry farms.

Computer Programs from Purdue Animal Sciences – Purdue website providing access to nutrition and manure management computer programs.  Programs include the Manure Management Planner, a Windows-based computer program to create manure management plans for crop and animal feeding operations.

Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine – Purdue gateway to information, faculty, and resources in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Indiana Board of Animal Health – Indiana state agency providing leadership on animal health, animal product food safety and inspection, care of animals in disasters, animal care, and emerging animal and zoonotic diseases.
