Dear Ag Express Reader,
This winter has already let us see the extremes that Indiana weather can bring. Last weekend brought spring like weather and your normal winter yuk. Be cautious as you work around the farm in dealing with the extremes.
Note the Bi-State Water Management Conference coming up on January 24. The drought of 2012 has generated interest in irrigation. The morning portion will be covering the legal aspects as well as the basics of irrigation. The afternoon will focus on drainage with Larry Brown from Ohio State. Larry is known for the Overholt Drainage Schools held in Ohio. For those wanting to fine tune your drainage plans or just wanting to improve your knowledge be sure to attend. You can even get PARP credit for attending. We have designed the program so you can attend the morning/afternoon or for the whole day. There is another nearby opportunity listed in the calendar for an Overhead Irrigation Program for details check the Purdue Extension Website listed above.
As you work to wrap up 2012 records or prepare for 2013 remember Farmer’s Tax Guides, Farm Record Book and other resources are available at our office. Please feel free to call, email or stop in with any questions.
Have a safe winter,
Kelly Pearson, Extension Educator
