Helping Hands in the Garden
Summertime means warm weather, baseball, and of course fresh vegetables from the garden. For the youth of the Warren County Summer Parks Program, this summer included hands on experience in gardening. The Purdue Extension – Warren County staff provided weekly lessons about P.L.A.N.T.S. Each letter represented a different lesson:
Place, Light, Air, Nutrients, Thirsty (water), and Soil
· Program included lessons for 125 youth in pre-K
through 7th grade.
· Participants created three small gardens full of a
variety of vegetables.
· The importance of eating Vegetables was reinforced
with healthy snacks being offered.
