The past few years has seen a resurgence in the number of small farms found in Indiana (Ag Stats, 2011). Local farmers have increased their connection with local farmer markets, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), and other local businesses including restaurants and grocery stores. This growing interest, in connecting with local producers, has opened up new markets and increased the opportunities for farmers to get more involved in a variety of sustainable farming practices, including organics, low impact, and tunnel agriculture.
Purdue University is committed to being a source of information for small farmers in Indiana to help them increase sustainability (economic, social, and environmental), augment their yields, and improve the marketing of their products. This site hopes to help Indiana farmers to gain knowledge on how to better manage all aspects of their small, sustainable farm.
